ZEBRA-POETRY FILM CLUB: Best of ZEBRA 2020/21
Film
FILM PROGRAM, READING AND TALK
With the filmmakers and poets Ghayath Almadhoun Palestine/Sweden | Eduard Escoffet Spain | Anne Isensee Germany
Moderation: Alexander Gumz, poet and artistic director of the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival Germany | Thomas Zandegiacomo Del Bel, artistic director of the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival Germany
Because the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festivals in 2020 and 2021 could only take place on a limited basis, we are showing a selected program with the winning films. Violence, intolerance, propaganda, and a neverending pandemic may determine our everyday lives and our consciousnesses, but this evening’s films adopt counterpositions. They ask uncomfortable questions about the treatment of refugees, political dissidents, and gun violence. They observe present chaos, madness, and hope. The poems in this program of poetry films are written by Ghayath Almadhoun, Brendan Constantin, Eduard Escoffet, Bertolt Brecht, and Zêdan Xelef. Ghayath Almadhoun and Eduard Escoffet will read from their work and speak with the audience about their films and their writing.
The film program will be moderated in German and English. The films will be shown in the original with English subtitles.
The event is suitable for school classes (11th-12th grade, €3/person). Registration at mitmachen@haus-fuer-poesie.org
Project leaders: Alexander Gumz, Thomas Zandegiacomo Del Bel
